DIRECTIONS
It's proven that students learn fast with chanting and rhymes. Take the top card and place it face up on hte table so that the photo is visible. Place a small figurine, preferably a king on the corner of the card. You're basically going to march the king around the card, and each time you get to a corner, the student will learn a new description about the card. Place the King on the corner of a card and start marching him while you AND your student chant "The King has a castle and in it is a .... (the student names the photo) and (photo) is.... Example, the King has a castle and in it is ice cream and ice-cream is cold. Each time you reach a corner, the student learns another description on the back of the card.
PREPARATIONUse the Learn to Talk about Food & Appliances pack of cards and a small King figurine. If you don't have a king you can substitute it with another figurine. As your student becomes more proficient you can make this game more challenging by directing the student to name the first description on the first corner, both descriptions on the next corner and all three descriptions on the third corner.
WHAT YOU NEED: 1. Learn to Talk about Food & Appliances 2. King Figurine
EXAMPLE OF A GAME
Teacher places a card on the table to reveal a photo of candy. The teacher marches the King on the outside perimeter of the card to the next corner while they chant "The King has a castle and in it is....
Student: Candy
Teacher: And candy is sweet
Student: The King has a castle and in it is candy and candy is sweet
The teacher marches the King to the next corner while they chant "The King has a castle and in it is...
Student: Candy and Candy is sweet and...
Teacher: You buy it in a store
Student: And candy is sweet and you buy it in a store
They chant together until they reach the next corner and the process continues.
Remember to modify this game according to your student. If your student is struggling to remember the description, keep repeating it at each corner until they are ready to learn the next one.
