Teach problem solving, discrimination and reasoning skills. Students begin by learning to group similar items together. Learning to discriminate which items don't belong in a group takes reasoning and problem solving.

Students also learn the negative form "NOT" which takes expanded thought. There are tons of combinations that appeal to children, and they will easily learn how to group similar items and identify which items don't belong.
